Hypnobirthing Essentials and The Mothermoon (Fourth Trimester Preparation) Day Course
Power of Mum (aka Laura Oldfield) and Sarah Tessier, Postnatal Doula are absolutely delighted to be joining forces to bring this amazing day course to you, you wonderful pregnant mama and your birth partner.
This day will combine the very best of hypnobirthing with comprehensive preparation for those first three months after your baby arrives.
We want you to have a birth where you feel your true power, and the start to motherhood that you truly deserve.
WHAT WILL THE COURSE COVER?
I will go through all the basics of hypnobirthing, leaving you with as much information as I possibly can (and offering ongoing support and advice via Facebook, Whatsapp etc. in a closed group). You will learn:
- Specific breathing techniques, that will make a profound difference at all stages of labour
- Relaxation techniques and scripts, that will help to reframe your subconscious mind to prepare you for feeling positive and relaxed about birth
- An understanding of the physiology of birth and the hormones released during it, which work so beautifully with your hypnobirthing techniques
- Massage techniques
- A discussion about the role of the birth partner and how important and wonderful this is!
- Relaxation, birth preparation and confidence building mp3s, the first of which will be sent to you AS SOON AS YOU SIGN UP so you can begin your practice
- Information about your many and varied choices surrounding birth
- Accompanying course notes to support your learning (and help you practice at home)
I will discuss with you all the things nobody talks about:
- Your postnatal body: what to expect physically and emotionally in the days and weeks after giving birth and how to look after yourself
- Your new baby: understanding your new baby and what they need
- You are what you eat: nutritional needs of a new mother
- It takes a village: creating your circle of support
- Creating your own mothermoon plan
WHY THIS COURSE? Laura says:
It is a great honour to work with couples to help them prepare for an amazing birth; however too often there is not time for the detailed, comprehensive planning around the Fourth Trimester that I believe can make a profound difference to how parents feel once baby is actually here! Regardless of how amazing a birth you have, the time post birth can be extraordinary, but also extraordinarily overwhelming! Having had two very different post-natal experiences I am convinced that - had I found a course like the one we are offering you - many of those feelings of being overwhelmed, panicked and, frankly, out of my depth, would never have surfaced.
Second time round, despite having a 17 and a half month old to contend with, I was far more prepared to accept the help, rest and nourishment I needed.
It is our mission to ensure that YOU and your partner get the best of both worlds:
positive preparation for birth, to ensure that you feel powerful, calm and contented, ready to enjoy your baby’s birth for the extraordinary, life-changing experience that it is.
A Fourth Trimester that is nurturing, nourishing and emotionally and physically sustaining and rewarding - for your baby AND FOR YOU!
I had two very different postnatal experiences after the births of my children and know first hand the difference that looking after yourself during this time can make or your physical and emotional health and to your confidence as a mother. After the birth of my son, I tried jumping back into ‘normal’ life again too quickly which resulted in feeling tired and sore and left me feeling emotionally low. It took a long time to feel healthy and well again.
When my daughter was born, I planned a 'mothermoon'. For the first few weeks after she was born I focused on resting, nourishing myself and getting to know my new baby and I felt so much better for it both physically and emotionally.
I want you to experience the benefits of a 'mothermoon' too!
I want you to spend the early days and weeks of your new baby's life focused on resting and bonding with your new baby.
I want you want to start motherhood confident in your abilities as a mother.
The Mothermoon Workshop will teach you what you need to know about resting and recovering after giving birth and adjusting to life as a new mother. You'll know how to look after yourself in the days and weeks after birth and you’ll come away with your own personalised mothermoon plan.
EVERYONE WILL ALSO RECEIVE:
- A recipe booklet filled with recipes that are easy to make, delicious and nutritious to ensure you're not just living off biscuits and cups of lukewarm tea
- A goody bag filled with lots of lovely new mum treats
- Comprehensive hypnobirthing parent notes

HOW DO I BOOK?
I'm an antenatal teacher, postnatal doula and run workshops to help mums-to-be to plan for life after birth and look after themselves in the days and weeks after having a baby. After having two very different postnatal experiences and experiencing first hand the difference that having a ‘mothermoon’ can make on a woman’s recovery after giving birth, I'm passionate about supporting women to have the start to motherhood that they deserve. www.sarahtessier.com Instagram: @sarahtessierdoula
I'm Laura, mum of a 3 year old "spirited" daughter and a 2 year old scamp of a son. I've taught for as long as I can remember, from running revision sessions at school (yep, I was that girl) to 12 years experiencing teaching secondary school music and coaching students as a Head of Year. I adore it. I've hypnobirthed my way through two very different but very wonderful labours. I've seen how hypnobirthing classes equipped my husband with confidence and a sense of pride at having a tangible "job" to do during the labour. I'm proud to be a KG Hypnobirthing trained teacher, accredited by the Royal College of Midwives. I work with women to prepare for birth, and as a business coach. I run events in Surrey for business women, have a thriving blog and an amazing Facebook community in my Power of Mum Business Tribe. My joy and pleasure is in helping women to realise their power! www.powerofmum.com www.powerofmum.com/blog Instagram @power_ofmum
