An Opportunity to Reflect: a Coaching Exercise

Please do use this Power of Mum Reflection Exercise  whenever you need - a chance to gently reflect on how your year is going (I would recommend doing every three months or quarter). Copy the questions down into a journal, or use this editable PDF.

Creativity

  • What does creativity mean to you?

  • Does creativity feel possible in your every day rhythm at the moment?

  • What needs to change to make space for more creativity in your life?

  • What did you enjoy doing as a child which could be classed as creative?

  • Does creativity need to be something in your every day? Could it be something you do once a week in a more structured way?

  • What are the benefits that more creativity will bring to your life?

Relationships

  • rank your relationships in order of time you’re spending on them

  • Which relationship(s) feel like they need more nurturing?

  • Are there relationships where you’re physically together but not mentally present? What needs to change to make you more present?

  • Is there any romance in your life at the moment? What could romance look like right now?

  • What are your favourite ways to learn (online articles, radio, podcasts, books, courses, E-courses, coaching) and what could you do to maximise time and exposure to them?

  • What support do you need to make this happen?

Emotional well-being (note I do not cover mental health because I am not a therapist, but if you have consistently low mood, anxiety, panic, or your mental health is feeling bad, please do check out this NHS website

  • If 10 is brilliant and 1 is awful, what number would you attribute to your emotional well-being)

  • what makes your emotional well-being brighter? This could include a) journalling b) doing something creative c) going for a walk d) getting off social media when passively scrolling e) spending time with friends f) cooking g) HIIT h) dancing i) reading (you get the idea)

  • What needs to be communicated to those around you to make space for you to nurture your physical health?

  • What support do you need to make this happen?

Work

Note: this isn’t a detailed analysis of how your business is doing if you own one, or in the planning stages - you will need the Business Reflections workbook for that (coming soon). Though arguably the above categories are even more important if you’re running your own thing, as it can be so easy to do all your planning and reflecting around your work and work alone...

  • How “you” do you feel at work

  • Where are you facing challenge at work?

  • What projects, events or accomplishments are you particularly proud of?

  • How valued are you feeling at work?

  • Who do you need greater support and a sense of appreciation (if anyone?)

  • Are there any areas where you feel you could work smarter or more efficiently?

  • Any goals for the next work month?

I really hope you find this useful - please do comment below and let me know how you got on, or drop me an email hello@powerofmum.com
